Ethereum (ETH) has long played second fiddle to Bitcoin (BTC), but its fortunes may be changing. The Ethereum network is undergoing a major overhaul, led by a new roadmap through 2029 unveiled by co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

The plan includes significant improvements to the core blockchain's speed and efficiency, as well as preparation for quantum computing and artificial intelligence advancements.

According to top strategist Tom Lee, this shift represents a new paradigm for Ethereum, which he calls 'ETH 2.0.' He predicts that Ethereum will become more tightly integrated into the financial world's IT infrastructure, allowing it to tap into new growth areas.

Ethereum is already a DeFi powerhouse, with 55% of the market share in Total Value Locked (TVL). Lee refers to it as the preferred blockchain of Wall Street. If Ethereum's price were to skyrocket to $250,000, as Lee suggests, Bitcoin investors might be left envious.
