Ethereum to Become 'Cryptographic World Computer' by 2030
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has outlined a vision for the network's future scalability, which he believes will transform it into a 'cryptographic world computer' by 2030. According to Buterin, this new design will combine blockchain technology with cryptographic proofs and external computer networks, allowing for greater efficiency and capacity.
The current Ethereum validation method relies on every node redoing the same transaction calculations, which not only limits scalability but also wastes computational resources. Buterin proposes replacing this brute-force approach with short mathematical proofs that can be verified quickly by other computers, enabling parallel task processing and increased throughput.
This shift is already underway, with newer cryptographic tools offering a way to break the constraint of recalculation. Buterin's roadmap also includes plans for improved privacy features, such as concealing wallet usage data and balance queries, allowing users to maintain confidentiality without exposing their accounts.
