Ethereum Transforms into 'Cryptographic World Computer' by 2030
Vitalik Buterin has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for Ethereum's transformation by 2030. The co-founder proposes replacing traditional blockchain architecture with a 'cryptographic world computer' that combines cryptographic proofs and offchain computation to increase scalability, speed, and privacy.
The current validation mechanism on Ethereum requires each node to execute identical computational tasks, creating inherent scalability limitations. Buterin's proposal centers around utilizing advanced cryptographic verification techniques to overcome these constraints by allowing a single node to execute transaction processing and generate compact cryptographic proofs for subsequent nodes to validate more efficiently.
This paradigm shift would enable workload distribution across the network while maintaining cryptographic guarantees of correctness. However, industry experts have expressed concerns about practical implementation challenges of the proposed system.
