Ethereum Trapped Between Key Moving Averages as Mixed Signals Persist
Ethereum's price action remains stuck in neutral as traders struggle to gain conviction. The digital asset is trading within a narrow band defined by its short- and medium-term Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs).
The Net Taker Volume, which measures the difference between market buying and selling volume in Ethereum perpetual futures, has been slightly negative since August 1. Historically, prolonged periods of negative Net Taker Volume have preceded price declines.
However, funding rates remain positive at approximately 0.0049%, indicating that long positions retain a slight advantage in the perpetual futures market. This mixed picture is reflected in Ethereum's derivatives activity, which has remained largely range-bound over the past week.
The Open Interest, which represents the total value of outstanding derivatives contracts, showed limited movement over the past week, suggesting weak participation compared with previous periods. A sustained increase typically points to greater trader involvement, while a decline suggests that market participants are closing positions or reducing exposure.
