Ethereum Turns 11: Record Staking and Whale Activity Fuel Rally Speculation
Ethereum celebrated its 11th anniversary, and the milestone is already fueling speculation about a potential rally in the token's price. Despite some analysts downplaying the significance of the event, Ethereum's growing popularity among investors, combined with record-breaking staking levels, has many thinking that this might be more than just a short-term buzz play.
Recent data from BlackRock shows that its clients purchased over $20 million worth of ETH in the same period they withdrew $60 million from the company's Bitcoin ETF. This stark contrast between the two flows is likely to have contributed to the bullish sentiment surrounding Ethereum.
The whale activity on the platform has also added to the excitement, with a significant withdrawal of 40,000 ETH, worth approximately $76.58 million, made by wallet 0x2d59 from Binance. While it's unclear what this owner's intentions are, large exchange withdrawals are often viewed as a good indicator.
Ethereum staking has reached an all-time high of 40.2 million ETH in Q2 2026, accounting for around 33% of the total supply and worth over $63 billion. This growing demand for staking is likely to have contributed to the increasing hopes of a rally among investors.
Raj Karkara from ZebPay emphasized Ethereum's progress over the years, stating that it has evolved from an ambitious vision into the foundation of a thriving digital ecosystem. He believes that the transition to Proof-of-Stake and scalability improvements have strengthened the network's long-term sustainability.
