Ethereum Update Warns of Potential Wallet Disruptions
The Ethereum Foundation has issued a warning about potential wallet disruptions due to an upcoming update. The Glamsterdam update will alter the gas model, which could cause some software to malfunction.
Developers believe that wallets, indexers, and fee assessment tools may be affected by the change. They recommend testing systems on the public Plataberget testnet before the mainnet release.
The issue is related to EIP-8037, which introduces a separate state-gas measurement for operations that create new states. This means that sending coins to a new address will incur additional charges beyond the standard 21,000 units required for an ETH transfer to an existing address.
