The Lido protocol has rolled out an update to its Curated Module, aiming to optimize Ethereum's infrastructure. This technical advancement allows validators to consolidate their balances, increasing the effective limit from 32 ETH to a maximum of 2.048 ETH.

This consolidation is expected to reduce the total number of operational nodes on the network by approximately one-third, from around 880,000 to approximately 628,000.

The update focuses on optimizing the efficiency of the main network consensus and has introduced new rules and security measures for node operators. Penalty and bonding systems have been implemented, linking future stake distribution to the operator's actual performance, generated fees, and overall contribution to the ecosystem.
