Ethereum Wallet Count Surpasses 200 Million Amid Growing Institutional Interest
The Ethereum network has reached a significant milestone, surpassing 200 million wallets. This figure represents addresses that hold at least some ETH, but it's not necessarily unique individuals, as many users control multiple wallets.
This growth is notable, especially when compared to early 2021, when Ethereum first crossed 100 million wallets. The network has more than doubled in user engagement since then, driven by decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), as well as growing institutional interest.
The transition to proof-of-stake in September 2022 improved energy efficiency and laid the groundwork for future scalability upgrades, which may have encouraged new users to enter the ecosystem. This milestone reinforces Ethereum's position as the leading smart contract platform by user adoption.
