Ethereum Whales Accumulate 70% More ETH Amid Weak Market Conditions
Recent data shows that 'mega whales', entities holding over 100k ETH, have increased their Ethereum holdings by approximately 70% since mid-2025, bringing their total to around 4.6 million ETH.
This significant accumulation comes at a time when the spot CFD market conditions for ETHUSD are weak. According to The Block and CryptoQuant, whale balances in this market have risen despite recent weakness in prices.
Notably, such accumulation often appears near market lows, suggesting that these large holders may be positioning themselves for further price drops.
A proposed update to the Ethereum network, EIP-8061 for Glamsterdam (Q4 2026), aims to quadruple validator exit capacity, reducing the modeled exit queue time for spot CFD exits from around 50 days to approximately 12 days.
