Ethereum Whales Shift $65M from Bitcoin Exposures Amid Deteriorating Risk Sentiment
A significant transaction has been reported on the Ethereum blockchain, highlighting a whale's substantial reallocation of assets from Bitcoin-linked exposures to Ether. On September 16, wallet 0x4553 made a large swap, exchanging 512 WBTC and 354 cbBTC worth approximately $38.64 million and $26.73 million respectively for 26,924 ETH valued at roughly $64.57 million.
The transaction is notable because it represents a direct shift from Bitcoin exposure to Ethereum, rather than transferring assets to stablecoins or exiting the crypto market altogether. This change in relative positioning between the two largest crypto assets suggests that large holders are reassessing their exposure.
The wallet acquired ETH at an average price of roughly $2,399 per token, effectively consolidating more than $65 million of exposure to Bitcoin representations into a single Ethereum position. The move arrives at a crucial moment for the broader cryptocurrency market, where risk sentiment has weakened and both Bitcoin and Ethereum have faced pressure.
