Ethereum, XRP, and Solana Aim for $1 Trillion Market Cap After Bitcoin
Bitcoin remains the only cryptocurrency with a $1 trillion market cap, currently valued at around $1.73 trillion. However, investors are closely watching Ethereum, XRP, and Solana as potential candidates to join this elite group. Ethereum, with a current market cap of $333 billion, would need to reach approximately $8,190 per coin to hit the $1 trillion mark, requiring a roughly 200% increase. XRP, at $96 billion, would need to surge to about $16 per coin, a 940% gain, while Solana, valued at $71 billion, faces the steepest climb, needing to reach $1,700 per coin, a 1,300% increase.
The path to $1 trillion is influenced by more than just price; circulating supply and the release of new coins play crucial roles. Ethereum, with no fixed maximum supply, must contend with a continuous influx of new ETH. XRP's journey is complicated by Ripple's escrow, which can release up to 1 billion XRP monthly, potentially pressuring buyers. Solana, like Ethereum, has no maximum supply, adding to the challenge of absorbing new coins while prices rise.
Among the three, Ethereum appears to be the most likely candidate to reach a $1 trillion market cap next. It only needs to triple its current value, compared to XRP's tenfold and Solana's fourteenfold requirements. However, Ethereum must still overcome significant hurdles, including surpassing its previous high of $4,946 and managing the influx of new coins. If XRP or Solana overtakes Ethereum first, it could reshape the landscape of the cryptocurrency market.
