Ethereum's 2026 Price Rally Hinges on $2,800 Test
The Ethereum price is rallying in Q3 2026, mirroring its path in May 2025, which preceded an all-time high of $4,955. However, this time it faces a crucial test at $2,800, where failure could push the price towards the $2,000 support level.
The current rally is unfolding around the same region as the Pectra upgrade in May 2025, which was followed by a significant price increase. Historically, Ethereum spent considerable time struggling below the $2,800 supply region before breaking higher.
If ETH fails to push decisively above $2,800, it could repeat its earlier struggle, potentially leading to a deeper decline towards $2,000 or lower. On the other hand, breaking through key resistance levels at $3,063, $3,391, and $3,835 could strengthen the current rally structure.
A significant whale purchase of 4,500 ETH worth $12.38 million has added to the bullish sentiment in the near term. However, this buying activity is not confirmation of an impending price surge, as it may be a wrong bet or simply a profit-taking strategy if short-term targets are reached.
