Ethereum's Account Abstraction Standard Splits into Two Separate Paths
The Ethereum community has hit a roadblock as Layer 1 developers and Base, a Layer 2 network by Coinbase, have parted ways on their unified account abstraction standard. This development means that two separate proposals are now in the works: EIP-8141 for Layer 1 and EIP-8130 for Base.
The split reflects differing priorities between the two groups. Layer 1 is focused on censorship resistance and privacy, while Base prioritizes scalability and customization.
This fragmentation may complicate cross-chain compatibility but also allows for parallel innovation tailored to different needs.
