Ethereum's August Surge Sets Up Potential September Sell-Off
Ethereum's recent price surge has some analysts warning of potential weakness in September. The cryptocurrency rallied by 25% in August, reaching a price of $4,950.
Historical data suggests that every August gain since 2016 has been followed by an average loss of 6.42% in September. In 2017, Ethereum saw a 92.86% surge in August, only to drop by 21.65% the following month. Last year, the cryptocurrency rose by 35.62% in August before falling by 12.55% in September.
However, this year's rally may be different due to significant institutional investment in Ethereum. Over $2.79 billion flowed into spot Ethereum ETFs during August, and corporate treasuries now hold over $13 billion worth of the cryptocurrency. BitMine recently added $45 million to their Ethereum holdings.
