Ethereum's Blockchain Future is Fading Fast
Ethereum's future is changing fast, according to Vitalik Buterin. The co-founder of Ethereum says the network will soon move beyond its current blockchain identity and into a new era of decentralized architecture.
In an essay published on September 27, Buterin describes a future where participants can divide work among themselves without everyone repeating every calculation. This would allow for more efficient verification and processing, making it possible to store and process large amounts of data simultaneously.
The proposed architecture relies on modern cryptography and decentralized infrastructure, which will enable the network to focus on changes that require shared ordering while offloading supporting work to surrounding systems.
Ethereum's 2030 vision envisions finality times of around eight to 32 seconds, but Buterin notes that this is a future design, not a capability currently available. He also identifies Hegota, planned for 2027, as likely Ethereum's last 'normal' fork, meaning one whose technology would be familiar to someone from 2015.
