Ethereum's Glamsterdam Cycle Reveals Strengths and Weaknesses
The Ethereum community has been busy testing the next wave of changes to the network through the 'Glamsterdam' devnet cycle. This cycle is a rotating stage where every major Ethereum execution and consensus client shows up with near-final code, dials features on and off, and syncs on shared bugs.
The current cycle, Glamsterdam-devnet-7, went live in July and was subjected to high-load transaction drills, builder competitiveness tests, and gas semantics tweaks. The test results were promising, with the network holding up well under increased transaction loads.
However, some issues did arise during the testing process. Builder bid issues were observed, particularly with Geth Builder and Nethermine not reliably winning bids. This highlights the importance of builder integration and timing sensitivity in high-load scenarios.
