Ethereum's Glamsterdam Upgrade Faces Threats Ahead of October 6 Launch

Ethereum's upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade is set to boost network throughput by raising the gas limit to around 200 million, according to developers.

The upgrade, scheduled for October 6, aims to increase the number of payments and trades that can be processed in a single block without overloading the computers that verify the network.

However, during testing on the Sepolia testnet, developers found an issue with the new block auction system, which could be exploited by an attacker. The attacker could spin up fake builder identities, outbid legitimate participants, and then fail to deliver transactions after winning.
