Ethereum's Glamsterdam Upgrade Set for Oct. 6 Sepolia Testnet Launch

The Ethereum Foundation has announced that the Sepolia testnet will begin testing the Glamsterdam upgrade on October 6. This marks an important step towards a broader rollout of the upgrade, which includes significant changes to block creation and validator checks.

One of the key additions is EIP-7732, also known as proposer-builder separation (PBS), which will be directly integrated into Ethereum's protocol. This change aims to mitigate the need for trusted third-party builder payment infrastructure by handling payments between builders and proposers through the protocol itself.

The upgrade also targets state efficiency, with EIP-7928 introducing block-level access lists that provide a list of accounts and storage locations used by each block. This change is expected to enhance state-root calculations during the upgrade, increasing L1 capacity within Ethereum.
