Ethereum's Glamsterdam Upgrade Set for Oct 6: What You Need to Know
The Ethereum Foundation has announced that Sepolia will undergo an upgrade on October 6 to test changes related to block processing and gas accounting. This upgrade is part of a larger effort to prepare Ethereum for increased capacity and scalability. The Glamsterdam upgrade, as it's called, will introduce new rules for how nodes handle transactions and access stored data.
The upgrade includes two key changes: EIP-8037, which increases the cost of state creation, and EIP-8038, which updates charges for reading and writing stored information. These changes are designed to better reflect the resource demands of different operations on the Ethereum network.
One of the main goals of the upgrade is to reduce congestion on the network by allowing more efficient processing of transactions. To achieve this, nodes will be able to organize access to data in parallel, reducing the time it takes for them to verify and execute transactions.
