Ethereum's Glamsterdam Upgrade Set for October: What it Means for the Blockchain
Ethereum is set to undergo its 'Glamsterdam' network upgrade in October. This major overhaul will combine two separate updates, 'Amsterdam' for the execution layer and 'Gloas' for the consensus layer.
The 'Amsterdam' update will introduce Parallel Processing, enabling multiple transactions to be executed simultaneously, rather than sequentially. It will also adjust storage pricing to reduce network congestion.
The 'Gloas' update will allow validators to assemble blocks directly within Ethereum's core protocol, eliminating the need for third-party middleman relays and making the validation process more secure.
By rewriting its foundational architecture, Glamsterdam breaks structural bottlenecks that had prevented developers from raising the gas limit. This increase in gas limit will reduce gas fees for each transaction, making Ethereum more scalable and attractive to users and developers.
