Ethereum's Glamsterdam Upgrade Takes Shape with Sepolia Fork Scheduled for October 6

Ethereum is gearing up for its Glamsterdam upgrade, which will introduce significant changes to the network's architecture. The first step towards this major overhaul is a scheduled fork on Sepolia, set to occur on October 6, 2026, at 9:53:36 a.m. ET (13:53:36 UTC). This activation point corresponds to epoch 353,024 and Unix timestamp 1,791,294,816.

The Glamsterdam upgrade combines the Gloas consensus-layer upgrade with the Amsterdam execution-layer upgrade. The goals of this major overhaul include parallelized processing, increased network capacity, and measures to limit database growth. To achieve these objectives, key components such as enshrined proposer-builder separation (EIP-7732) and Block-Level Access Lists (BALs, EIP-7928) will be implemented.

These changes may require updates for wallets, indexers, and gas estimators that rely on fixed maximum-gas assumptions. The Meta EIP-7773 tracker is monitoring the scope of these modifications, which may still evolve before the mainnet deployment.
