Ethereum's Millionaire-Maker Days Are Behind It
Ethereum (ETH) had a remarkable run in 2021, climbing from around $130 to over $4,800 in just a few months. This surge would have turned an investment of $27,000 into approximately $1 million.
However, the cryptocurrency's market value has dropped by 33% over the last five years and is now at around $2,638.25 as of current price. A 100x gain would be required for a $10,000 Ethereum investment to reach $1 million, which would boost its market cap to an astonishing $29.2 trillion.
The entire cryptocurrency sector's market cap is currently around $2.7 trillion, and even if it expands by 10 times over the next decade, it won't be enough to make a $10,000 Ethereum stake worth $1 million.
Despite this, Ethereum still has potential for growth in the long term. Tokenization, the process of recording ownership of assets such as stocks and Treasury bonds in crypto tokens, is an emerging trend that could contribute significantly to its value. As of mid-September, Ethereum hosts $17.3 billion of these tokenized assets.
Another major growth driver is on-chain AI agents that use the network to store their money and purchase or sell goods and services. There are already over 31,215 agents registered on Ethereum, and as they become more sophisticated, their activity is likely to increase.
