Ethereum's Pectra Upgrade Boosts Scalability, Validator Efficiency
Ethereum's recent upgrades have significantly improved its scalability and validator efficiency. The Pectra upgrade, which combined the Prague execution layer and Electra consensus layer, introduced 11 EIPs to enhance these areas. This change has allowed large institutional stakers to consolidate their operations, simplifying operations for them.
As a result of these improvements, Ethereum's throughput has risen by 73%. The network now secures hundreds of billions of dollars in decentralized finance and tokenized asset infrastructure. Demand remains high, with institutional inflows into spot Ethereum ETFs reaching $11 billion through March 2026.
However, the BlackRock IBIT premium is seen as deceptive. This premium signals market segmentation due to difficulty arbitrating between crypto and equity markets. Crypto ETPs maintain higher NAV premiums than other large ETFs that reference highly liquid assets like large-cap equities.
