Ethereum's Security To-Do List: DAO Fund Seeks Co-Funding for Vulnerability Fixes
TheDAO Security Fund has opened its second round of funding for Ethereum security initiatives, seeking $1.77 million to support projects that address vulnerabilities in the network.
The fund, seeded from unclaimed money left over from the 2016 DAO hack, aims to coordinate funding and execution of key security projects. In the first round, over $1.6 million was raised from 20 ecosystem funders and 3,934 donors.
This second round will focus on more targeted initiatives, with a third of each budget allocated for adoption milestones. Teams can draw up to half of the first milestone in advance, but payment is withheld until an independent reviewer has verified its completion.
The rise in exploits and hacks has been attributed to advancements in AI tools for debugging, which have led to novel zero-day vulnerabilities being discovered. TheDAO Security Fund's Griff Green noted that draft milestones can be rewritten given the speed of development in the age of AI.
