Ethereum's Self-Sustaining Economy: A Novel Approach to Monetary Policy

Grayscale's Head of Research, Zach Pandl, made an analogy between Ethereum's ETH issuance model and a small country's economy.

Ethereum would have only one public service: protecting property rights and maintaining a system for exchanging value.

This is in contrast to traditional governments that fund public services through taxation, while Ethereum finances its operations by issuing new ETH, generating revenue through seigniorage, the profit made from issuing currency.

Unlike fiat-based economies, Ethereum's protocol automatically adjusts ETH issuance based on network activity and staking participation.

Stakers who secure the network serve as a property-rights protection service and receive newly issued ETH in return, effectively combining fiscal and monetary policy into one system.
