Ethereum's Staking Rate Hits 34.30% as Network Activity Slows
Ethereum's recent price action has been characterized by a lack of direction, with the cryptocurrency failing to break out of its narrow range over several weeks. According to data from CryptoQuant, Ethereum closed at $1,871 on August 10, a level that it had occupied for some time.
Despite the sideways price trend, on-chain indicators have shown a significant cooling of mainnet activity and a shift in capital at the exchange layer. One of the clearest signs of this shift was observed in network costs, with median transaction fees decreasing by 64-73% over a 90-day period.
The median transfer value of Ethereum's native tokens and smart contract-based assets also dropped by more than 50%, indicating a decrease in overall network usage. Additionally, the median fee ultimately stood at approximately 5,674.23 Gwei, a level that suggests a significant reduction in transaction costs.
Another indicator of this shift was observed in stablecoin liquidity, with net flow on the Binance side showing a 198% decrease compared to its quarterly average. This movement indicates a contraction in liquidity, which is aligned with an increase in stablecoin redemptions and burns.
