Ethereum's Updated Roadmap Prioritizes Privacy and Quantum Safety
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has published an updated roadmap for the project. The new roadmap reflects changing priorities and includes features that were not present in the original 2023 plan.
The update compares the old roadmap to the current Strawmap, which was presented by the Ethereum Foundation in February 2026. Buterin noted that some items from the old roadmap have been deprioritized or replaced, while others have received higher priority.
Key additions to the updated roadmap include a focus on privacy, aggressive scaling through post-quantum cryptography, and gas futures. The new plan also simplifies the protocol specification by making it fully formally verifiable using modern AI tools.
