The European Union has added cryptocurrency exchange HTX to its list of sanctioned entities in response to Russia's war on Ukraine. The move is part of a broader package of sanctions targeting Russia, which continues to face international pressure over its military invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

According to the EU, HTX was included in the list due to its provision of crypto-asset services that facilitate a continued financial lifeline for Russia's war efforts. The exchange has previously stated its commitment to regulatory compliance and adherence to frameworks in all jurisdictions.

The sanctions against HTX come as the UK government imposed similar measures on the exchange in May, citing 'reasonable grounds to suspect' that it supported Russia's government through financial services and funds facilitated by sanctioned entities.
