EU Crypto Regulation Review Enters Final Stages

Share

The European Commission is reviewing MiCA, the EU's crypto regulation, and submissions for the review must be made by September 30, 2026 at 23:59 CEST. The consultation is an opportunity for investors and industry stakeholders to provide feedback on the effectiveness of MiCA in regulating crypto services.

The regulation requires crypto service providers to hold an authorization before offering trading, custody, or exchange services in the EU, and it also establishes a review process to assess its impact and make necessary changes. The Commission is seeking input on various aspects of MiCA, including its scope, requirements for stablecoins, and treatment of tokenized deposits.

The consultation has two tracks: a targeted consultation for specialist audiences, such as crypto service providers and regulatory authorities, and a public consultation open to everyone. Retail investors can participate in the public track by submitting their views on how MiCA affects them.
