EU Sanctions Freeze Corporate Crypto Accounts on HTX After August 23
The European Union's August 23 deadline for corporate crypto accounts on HTX has become a serious concern for companies with direct or indirect dealings with the exchange. According to EU regulations, covered transactions will be prohibited from this date onwards. This means that any withdrawals or payments made after August 23 will require discretionary approval from a national authority and must result in a complete exit from HTX.
The affected parties are corporate customers, not individuals, and the exit route only applies to those who can transfer their funds to a qualifying institution, such as a credit or financial institution formed under an EU member state's law. The provision does not explicitly mention self-custody wallets as a qualifying destination.
It is worth noting that HTX has already restricted access to its services for users in all EU member states through its user agreement dated June 18. However, the new rule may still affect residual accounts, EU nationals abroad, and covered counterparties, although no public figure has quantified these groups.
