EU Sanctions on HTX: Deadline Looms for Direct and Indirect Transactions
The European Union's upcoming sanctions on HTX will restrict direct and indirect transactions from August 23, 2026. Covered dealings must be completed before this cutoff date to avoid being affected by the new rules.
Post-cutoff withdrawals require discretionary approval from a national authority and must fully end the customer's relationship with HTX. This exit route only applies to eligible individuals, not companies, and involves transferring funds to a qualifying institution.
Eligible individuals include EU, EEA, and Swiss nationals, as well as natural persons holding a temporary or permanent residence permit in one of these jurisdictions. However, corporate customers are not covered by this provision.
The new regulations are part of the Council Regulation (EU) 2026/1848, which lists 'HTX (HUOBI GLOBAL SA)' in Annex XLV and sets August 23 as the application date for the restriction.
