EU Sanctions Package Targets 14 Crypto Services
The European Union has introduced its 21st sanctions package against Russia, targeting 14 crypto-related service platforms across six jurisdictions. The EU-approved package adds 218 listings in total, with 48 individuals and 170 entities on the list.
The transaction ban extends to 14 crypto-related services, including HTX, EXMO Ltd, and Rapira. These platforms must be blocked by EU firms before August 13th for some, and August 23rd for others.
The new sanctions package also includes a mechanism to impose a full third-country ban on crypto-asset services if required. This means that the EU could prohibit entire jurisdictions from providing or receiving crypto services in the future.
