EU Slams Russia with Harsh Sanctions Over Ukraine War
The European Union has expanded its sanctions on Russia to include more than 100 banks, 41 vessels, and 218 targets. The new measures are part of the EU's 21st sanctions package against Russia, which also targets crypto services, energy infrastructure, and military suppliers.
The package adds 48 individuals and 170 entities to EU asset-freeze lists, including several Russian banks and financial institutions. The 48 individuals are also subject to travel bans, while the 170 entities cannot receive funds or economic resources from EU operators.
The EU has also introduced measures against crypto service providers in third countries when their platforms or services are used to evade sanctions. This includes restrictions on Russian citizens holding management positions in EU companies providing crypto-asset services.
