EU Targets HTX in Wider Sanctions Package Against Russia-Linked Crypto Network

Share

The European Union has expanded its crackdown on HTX, widening its sanctions package to include Huobi Global S.A., the entity behind the exchange.

The EU's 21st sanctions package, adopted July 23, prohibits EU operators from transacting with HTX from August 23, although it stops short of freezing the exchange's assets.

This move follows Britain's May action against Huobi Global, which triggered tighter scrutiny of HTX-related transfers at other major crypto exchanges.

The UK's designation of Huobi Global showed how restrictions on HTX could quickly spread to businesses and customers outside the exchange.
