Ex-Girlfriend of 'Crypto Godfather' Sentenced for Hiding $2.6M from IRS

A former girlfriend of a cryptocurrency 'godfather' has been sentenced to prison for hiding over $2.6 million from the IRS. Iris Ramaya Au, 37, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson to a year and a half in prison.

Au pleaded guilty in March 2025 to submitting a false tax return after failing to report income derived from her ex-boyfriend's scheme. The income was obtained through a series of crimes committed by Adam Iza, who dubbed himself 'the godfather', including fraudulently obtaining access to advertising accounts and lines of credit provided by Facebook Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc.

Au created shell corporations at Iza's direction and used illicit funds placed into the accounts to pay for various expenses, including luxury real estate, cars, jewelry, and clothing. She also transferred more than $2.6 million from these accounts to her personal bank accounts during the period from 2020 through 2023.

Au was ordered to pay $1.48 million in restitution and to forfeit a fleet of luxury and high-performance cars, designer handbags, and three sculptures among other assets.
