Ex-Police Officer Charged in Zondacrypto Collapse Probe

A former Polish police officer has been charged in connection with the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto. Artur K., a former member of the police force, faces charges of organized crime membership, fraud, and money laundering.

The charges are linked to the case of collapsed exchange Zondacrypto, which was founded by Sylwester Suszek in 2014 as BitBay. The exchange claimed 1.3 million clients, mostly Polish, before freezing withdrawals and going dark in April.

Police are searching the fuel depot where Suszek was last seen before vanishing in March 2022. At least five others have been charged since August, including Radosław P., the former head of the Polish Olympic Committee, who has denied the charges.
