Ripple's Chief Technology Officer Emeritus David Schwartz has weighed in on the reluctance of major cryptocurrency exchanges to list Bitcoin-based asset Bitcoin BLAKE2b.

The discussion began after an X user questioned why platforms like Coinbase, Kraken, and Trezor that had previously supported several Bitcoin forked assets were now ignoring Bitcoin BLAKE2b.

Schwartz suggested that the exchanges might be adopting replay protection mechanisms to hedge against possible vulnerabilities when dealing with a newly split asset. He explained that Bitcoin BLAKE2b is prone to engineering flaws that could cause traders to lose their funds.

The CTO Emeritus emphasized the importance of ensuring security by implementing adequate protection measures like replay protection, which prevents transactions made on one chain from being unintentionally processed on another after a fork.
