Fading Hype Leaves Dogecoin's Future in Question
Dogecoin's price has historically tracked public attention more closely than any fundamental driver. The cryptocurrency started as satire in 2013 and still follows public interest today.
The DOGE ETF, which represents Dogecoin on the stock market, has only $13.1 million of assets under management and averages about $247,000 in daily trading volume. This is a tiny fraction compared to the leading Bitcoin ETF, which moves around $2.2 billion in daily trading value.
Dogecoin development exists, but it's limited. The Dogecoin Foundation and community developers are working on several fronts, including Libdogecoin, GigaWallet, and RadioDoge. However, the coin still trails Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana on nearly every measure that matters to serious investors.
The hype surrounding Dogecoin is fading. U.S. search interest in the cryptocurrency has dropped to about 3% of its five-year peak in early 2025. The price has always followed public attention closely, so this decline may signal a continued downward trend.
