Fairshake backs 32 U.S. House candidates with $1 million each for crypto support
Fairshake, the leading political action committee (PAC) for the crypto industry, has announced its support for 32 U.S. House incumbents ahead of the November elections. The list includes 13 Democrats and 19 Republicans, all of whom are considered safe bets to retain their seats. This strategic backing aims to strengthen the industry's influence in Congress, particularly on key committees like the House Financial Services and Ways and Means Committees.
Six candidates have been singled out for significant financial support, with each receiving $1 million from Fairshake and its affiliates. On the Republican side, the top recipients are French Hill, Bill Huizenga, and Bryan Steil, all prominent figures in crypto legislation. For the Democrats, Steven Horsford, Derek Tran, and Janelle Bynum are the highest-supported candidates, each recognized for their pro-crypto stance.
Fairshake's spokesman, Geoff Vetter, emphasized the organization's focus on issue-driven support, backing candidates from both parties who champion American innovation in crypto. The PAC has a strong track record, having supported 53 winners out of 57 primary races so far. However, its focus remains on the House, where legislative progress has been more favorable compared to the Senate, which recently failed to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
Despite legislative setbacks, Fairshake is committed to expanding its influence. The PAC has allocated $30 million to defeat former Senator Sherrod Brown, with an additional $3 million from a Winklevoss-backed PAC. Fairshake's spending primarily goes toward independent advertising, avoiding direct mention of crypto to maximize voter appeal.
