Fairshake Commits $6 Million to House Candidates Ahead of 2026 Midterms
Fairshake, a prominent crypto-backed political action committee (PAC) supported by Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz, has revealed its initial spending plans for the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. The group will allocate $6 million to six House candidates, part of a broader list of 32 contenders it plans to back. Fairshake aims to support 19 Republican and 13 Democratic incumbents in the upcoming House races, with a total expected expenditure exceeding $100 million, including $30 million targeted at Ohio’s Senate race.
The PAC’s early focus is on six key races, with each candidate receiving $1 million in spending. Notable Democrats on the list include Oregon’s Janelle Bynum, California’s Derek Tran, and Nevada’s Steven Horsford, while Republicans include Arkansas’s French Hill, Michigan’s Bill Huizenga, and Wisconsin’s Bryan Steil. Fairshake’s spokesperson, Geoff Vetter, emphasized the organization’s issue-driven approach, stating that it backs pro-crypto candidates across both major parties who support American innovation.
All 32 candidates supported by Fairshake endorsed the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill that failed to pass a critical Senate vote. This legislative focus underscores the PAC’s strategy to influence digital-asset policy, regardless of which party controls Congress. Fairshake has already accumulated significant financial resources, with $122 million cash on hand and $82 million spent on ads as of June, reflecting its substantial impact on the political landscape.
As the midterms approach, Fairshake’s spending decisions will likely pressure other political actors to clarify their stance on digital-asset oversight. The key question remains whether the PAC can translate legislative alignment into electoral success and whether new regulatory proposals will emerge post-election.
