Fairshake to Back 32 House Candidates in 2026 US Midterms
Fairshake, a political action committee (PAC) backed by major players like Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz, has announced plans to support 32 House candidates ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections. The group will initially allocate $6 million to six of these candidates, with a total budget of over $100 million for ads supporting both House and Senate candidates. Fairshake aims to back 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, focusing on politicians who support crypto innovation.
The PAC has identified six key candidates, three Republicans and three Democrats, each receiving $1 million in spending. These include Oregon Representative Janelle Bynum, California Representative Derek Tran, and Nevada Representative Steven Horsford from the Democratic side, and Arkansas Representative French Hill, Michigan Representative Bill Huizenga, and Wisconsin Representative Bryan Steil from the Republican side. All 32 candidates supported by Fairshake voted in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which aimed to establish clear roles for US financial agencies in overseeing digital assets but failed to pass a crucial Senate vote.
Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter emphasized the group's issue-focused approach, stating, 'Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization. We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties.' The PAC reported having $122 million cash on hand ahead of the midterms, with plans to 'help build the largest pro-crypto caucus in American history.' However, Public Citizen noted that Fairshake had already spent $82 million on ads as of June, less than half of the $189 million estimated from crypto-aligned advocacy groups and companies.
