Fake GIWA Mainnet Scam Drains 766 ETH
The GIWA mainnet has not launched, and users are being warned to be cautious of fake networks claiming to be the legitimate one. On September 27, a fake chain using the correct Chain ID 9134 was deployed, allowing users to bridge real ETH and trade on the fraudulent network before draining about 766 ETH.
The fake chain used OP Stack-style infrastructure, including a bridge and batcher, making it appear authentic. The DYOR Swap team noticed that the network was not legitimate and reconstructed its activity from L2 data published to Ethereum.
According to DYOR, users who bridged less than 5 tokens will receive 40% of their bridged amount, while those who bridged more than 5 tokens will be reviewed separately. The team is still tracing the deployer, funding sources, and wallet that received the drained ETH.
