Farage's Crypto 'Sugar Daddies' Slammed by Labour's Rayner Over £72M Donations

Labour's Housing Secretary Angela Rayner delivered a scathing rebuke to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, calling out his party's crypto donors as 'sugar daddies'. In her speech at Labour's annual conference, Rayner criticized Farage for accepting millions from wealthy backers. Specifically, she mentioned that Reform received £72 million in just 48 hours from Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne, both of whom are linked to the cryptocurrency industry.

Rayner questioned whether these donations were motivated by a desire to support working-class people or rather to gain influence over Farage's policies. She pointed out that Harborne had previously given Farage £5 million before his failed bid for MP in 2024 and failed to declare it when entering the Commons. Rayner also referenced Farage's use of the Cameo app, where he earned up to £370,000 by posting personalized videos until suspending his account this year.

She used these examples to suggest that Farage is beholden to wealthy donors rather than standing up for ordinary people. 'If he'll sing you happy birthday for seventy quid, just imagine what he'd do for seventy million,' she said in her speech.
