FBI Agent Accused of Stealing Over $1 Million in Cryptocurrency
A high-ranking FBI agent has been accused of stealing over $1 million in cryptocurrency from digital accounts tied to a suspect in an overseas investigation. Patrick Yaroch, a supervisory agent based in Washington D.C., reportedly made 10-12 withdrawals using passcodes obtained during the investigation.
According to court documents, Yaroch confessed to the alleged crime last week and told a Department of Justice employee that it was 'eating him up inside'.
The affidavit details how Yaroch used ChatGPT to ask about investing and spending $1 million in cryptocurrency, raising suspicions. He allegedly made these searches in May and June 2026.
Yaroch's home was searched over the weekend, and he has been fired from the FBI after being arrested.
