FBI Agent Allegedly Steals $925k in Crypto from Russian-Linked Wallets

Share

A senior FBI official has been charged with siphoning close to $1 million in cryptocurrency from wallets tied to Russia, according to federal prosecutors.

Patrick Steven Yaroch, a supervisory special agent with top-secret clearance, allegedly used his access to internal systems to drain funds over a string of unauthorized transfers starting in late 2024. The total amount stolen is $925,426.07, according to court records.

The case raises serious security questions about oversight and ethical conduct within the agency. Yaroch's role gave him rare access, allowing him to exploit vulnerabilities in internal controls and move funds undetected for months. He has since been fired by the FBI and is facing federal charges of interstate transportation of stolen goods and receipt of stolen goods.
