FBI Agent Steals $1 Million in Cryptocurrency from Foreign Adversary Accounts

A high-ranking FBI agent has been accused of stealing $1 million in cryptocurrency from foreign adversary accounts, according to a recent filing in a Virginia district court. Patrick Steven Yaroch, the agent in question, allegedly used his access to FBI systems to access keys tied to these wallets and made around 10 transfers between late 2024 and early 2025.

The affidavit claims that Yaroch was frustrated with the FBI's inability or unwillingness to act against these entities, leading him to take matters into his own hands. He reportedly confessed to the theft when he met with a DOJ employee on July 29, and agents searched his home and vehicle shortly thereafter.

Yaroch faces charges of interstate transportation and receipt of stolen goods, securities, and monies. The court filing does not list any lawyers representing him. It's worth noting that Yaroch's alleged actions are a stark reminder of the potential risks and vulnerabilities within government agencies.
