FBI Cracks Hamas Crypto Fundraising Pipeline
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) seized Hamas-linked fundraising infrastructure in 2025 and used court-authorized warrants to recover over $560,000 in cryptocurrency.
The operation targeted AlQassam.ps, a website tied to the Al Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing. Investigators identified rotating donation addresses distributed through encrypted chats and fundraising websites, which led them to obtain three warrants in March, June, and October 2025.
Using these warrants, the FBI ordered Tether to burn targeted USDT and reissue an equivalent amount to a US law-enforcement-controlled address. Binance was also directed to transfer specified account balances into FBI-controlled wallets.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Justin A. Garris said that reducing Hamas' ability to receive donations and creating distrust among donors was the primary focus of this operation. The investigation turned from tracing funds to intercepting them after the FBI gained control of domains and servers associated with the operation.
