FBI Seizes Over $560K in Crypto Intended for Hamas
The FBI has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency intended for Hamas through court-authorized operations. The seizures were part of a sustained effort against infrastructure controlled by the group's military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades.
Agents captured domains and servers used for fundraising and recruitment, and intercepted donations. They also gathered information about thousands of potential donors who contacted Hamas online to donate or attempt to donate using cryptocurrency and other traditional means.
The operation targeted an encrypted group chat that directed supporters to a fundraising website and circulated a rotating collection of cryptocurrency addresses.
The seized funds passed through exchanges, over-the-counter brokers, and accounts registered to Palestinian individuals living in Turkey and elsewhere.
