FCA Opens Crypto Authorisation Gateway for UK Firms
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has opened its crypto authorisation gateway on September 30 for UK firms. The new regime, set to begin on October 25, 2027, covers activities such as stablecoin issuance, trading platforms, dealing, arranging, safeguarding, and cryptoasset staking.
Firms must apply by February 28, 2027, to use transitional arrangements. Current registration under the Money Laundering Regulations does not automatically grant permission under the new framework.
The FCA plans an October consultation on stablecoins, market-making, technology providers, decentralised protocols, safeguarding, and promotions.
