Fed Hikes Interest Rates Amid Elevated Inflation Concerns
The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points to 3.75%, 4.00%, citing elevated inflation as a concern. The decision was unanimous, with all 12 members of the FOMC voting in favor.
Nick Timiraos, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, noted that 16 out of 18 participants expect at least one more rate hike in 2026, and only a small number anticipate rates will fall below 4% by the end of 2027.
A Grayscale research report argued that this rate hike is a mid-cycle adjustment rather than a cyclical policy shift, and it is unlikely to trigger major changes in the crypto market. However, stablecoin issuers such as Circle and Tether will earn higher income from rising interest rates.
